Lord Mayor's Show 2017

The Step Into Dance Inclusive company began in 2015 and has since performed at Sadler's Wells Theatre, The Royal Festival Hall, and have taken part in the Lord Mayor's Show. Classes took place every Sunday and dancers would train together in contemporary, yoga and hip hop styles.

The Company

The company consists of dancers from the many SEN schools that the RAD work with across the year. We meet every Sunday at the RAD headquarters in Battersea and train hard in improving and extending our creativity in both hip hop and contemporary styles. There are regular performance opportunities though-out the year for the company members, and the confidence, creative flair and technical skill, grows with each Sunday that passes.

Step Live 2016

During the spring term the company began creating a piece for the Step Live! show, choreographed by Sarah Blanc. Sarah co-leads and choreographs for the youth strand of Candoco Dance Company, and so with her addition to the company we created a piece based on a grand feast, centred around a large banquet table. In July of 2016 we performed our piece 'Feast' as part of the Step Live! show. The show took place at  Sadler's Wells Theatre,  alongside the other Step Into Dance companies and schools.

Feedback

'Feast' was a resounding success with every dancer expressing a sense of pride after their experience of performing their piece on such a prestigious stage. Parents had the opportunity to see the vast improvement company members had made throughout the year they had spent in the company. Not only this but other dance and education professionals in the audience congratulated the company on their performance.

Below is a video from the dancers themselves expressing what the Step into Dance Inclusive Company means to them.
